"Solar Storm" will hit Mars and possibly Earth (VIDEO)

The "AR1492" bursts, CME goal Mars: The magnetic canopy of sunspots AR1492 erupted on May 27, and produces a long-C3 class solar flare hurling a coronal mass ejection (CME) to Mars. In NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet glow of the eruption:




This is the "solar tsunami" that is often associated with the launch of the CME.



  Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Laboratory say the CME by this blast will knock the Mars Science Lab spacecraft (which contains the Mars Rover Curiosity) on 31 May 0100 UT.Kai the Earth could have been a terrible blow to the cloud on 29 May. More likely, however, is to pass it.
